As we roll into the new year we also roll into a new beginning for Cyprus.
As of 1 January 2023, Cyprus will for the first time be implementing a minimum wage.
The new monthly minimum wage for the first six months of employment will be at least €885.00 per month, thereafter, rising to the minimum threshold of €940.00 per month.
Employees employed in agriculture, shipping and domestic workers are exempted from the minimum wage requirements, as are interns or individuals undertaking training for a degree or professional qualifications.
We view this as a positive first step to close the gap between low- and high-income earners. It will also increase equality in the workplace.
Let us know what your thoughts are on this major new step for Cyprus.
